General Questions
What is VPN? What does it do?
A Virtual Private Network (VPN) is an Internet security and privacy tool to anonymize you while surfing the Internet. When you are connected to a VPN server your traffic is encrypted using high level encryption and all network traffic is then passed through the secure server. A VPN secures your personal information and makes it impossible for your Internet provider to track your online activity. A VPN can enhance your Online experience by:
- Increasing your Online security and privacy.
- Prevent websites from being blocked.
- Allow access to geographically restricted website such as Hulu and Netflix.
- Increase your Internet access speeds.
- Anonymize your Internet traffic when accessing BitTorrent.
How does the VPN Zoom service work?
VPN Zoom creates a secure environment for everyday web use. Before you log onto the net, you need to establish your VPN connection, which will in turn pass all of your online data (emails, instant messaging, data transfers, online banking and all online browsing) through an encrypted tunnel. This makes it so all 3rd parties, including your ISP (Internet Service Provider); no longer have ANY visibility into your traffic. View an illustration of how a VPN works

How does VPN Zoom speed up my connection?
VPN Zoom can speed up gaming connections because our routing and transit systems are faster than those used by ISPs. We also don’t throttle the way ISPs sometimes do.
What is the best server for me to connect to for game acceleration?
Given that you’ll want to be on our routes as long as possible to get the most benefit, you will want to log into the server that is at the closest point to you, not the closest point to the server you are accessing.
Why is one server faster than another?
Server speed is variable based on the following factors:
- Your location
- The location of the website you want to visit
- The number of people on a server at one time
- The protocol you are using
- What routes you or the server take to your requested content
In general, while this isn’t always possible, it is always best to connect to a server that is close to you and close to your destination. Also, the OpenVPN protocol adds a layer of overhead that makes it slower than PPTP or L2TP. If the connection is not optimal on one server, try another protocol as this might prove to be a better option for you.
Will my ISP see when I'm connected to VPN Zoom?
All your ISP will see is a secured and encrypted connection to one of our VPN servers. They cannot see the traffic or decipher any of your communication.
How does VPN Zoom protect me from attacks?
In addition to masking your traffic VPN Zoom includes a NAT Firewall for all accounts.
What is a NAT Firewall?
A NAT (Network Address Translation) firewall is a packet filter that helps prevent your computer or mobile device from being exploited by malicious hackers and bot-nets. When connected to VPN Zoom you’re protected from such attacks because unwanted inbound traffic is blocked.
Is the NAT Firewall included with my VPN Zoom account?
